Magnus & Alec Scene! 

As I said yesterday — thanks to all of you who voted for Jace in the YA Tourney so MUCH. He won, and it’s all down to you.

So here’s the bonus part of the reward teasers: A scene from CoLS about Magnus and Alec. I get asked constantly if they will be in it and I hope this is somewhat reassuring that yes, indeed, they will be, with their very own plotline and all that. It’s a short scene because it’s smack in the middle of a giant spoiler. In fact I had to take out everything that even indicated where they were. Somewhere dark …but light can come from the strangest of sources.

And don’t get me started on Alec Lightwood 

I don’t like it when people give him grief for his jealousy in City of Fallen Angels

Think about it.

Homosexuality is not accepted in the Shadowhunter world. If it happens, you don’t talk about it. Ridiculous, yes, but true. Alec knows he’s gay and in a family like the Lightwoods, that’s probably not the best case scenario but still, he is what he is.

He spends all this time moping after Jace because he thinks that’s what he wants. I think he looks up to Jace and saw him as a potential love interest because Jace always seems so self assured. He’s the best Shadowhunter of his age. He has no trouble with the ladies, he knows how attractive he is, he’s sure of himself (though we know better). All of those things, Alec wishes he could be. So he latches onto the idea that he loves Jace when he doesn’t (we’re talking canon here, people. Jalec shippers, don’t kill me, I know it’s real to you guys)

Then, enter Magnus effing Bane, High Warlock of Brooklyn and just downright fabulous in every way. Older, mature, confident, and probably most daunting to Alec, Magnus is open with his sexuality.

It’s intimidating, no doubt.

So everything is fine and dandy with Magnus and they’re on holiday and yay but then HOLD THE PHONE, how many people has Magnus actually ’been’ with? And who the hell is Will Herondale? 800 years is a long time bro and that’s a lot of time for partners.

Remember, this is Alec’s first serious relationship while it might be Magnus’ hundredth for all we know. It’d get to you, don’t you think?

Here’s Alec, a guy so desperate to prove himself, wearing his discoloured sweaters and with his hair which looks like he cut it himself in the dark, and then there’s Magnus, always dressed perfectly and so sure of himself.

I think his jealousy is understandable in this instance. AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON CAMILLE STIRRING IT ALL UP.
